To celebrate the Lunar New Year, NEIVSA collaborates with the Vietnamese American Community of Massachusetts annually to bring the Tet in Boston Festival to the Boston and Greater Boston community. Every year, the festival attracts over 5,000 attendees, with our numbers up to about 9,000 last year. The festival includes a variety of cultural and modern performances, food provided by local businesses, and children’s games from local organizations.
This year, despite taking place in the middle of a snowstorm, the event was yet again a success! Not even about 6 inches of snowfall could stop the community from attending the festival. Though the number of attendees was much lower than from last year, there was still at least 3,000 people in attendance. All the great work from the planning committee finally paid off!
Over the past 6 months, members of the NEIVSA e-board and the community worked tirelessly to put on this great event. Though there were struggles along the way, the event grows stronger and stronger because of the passionate volunteers that dedicate their time. Their passion to give back to the community and their desire to share the Vietnamese heritage with others makes this event possible. Thank you for all those who took part in this festival for your continual support not only to celebrate our culture, but also to empower and unite our community.
Proceeds from this event will be going towards the Dreams Scholarship for high school seniors. For more information about the Dreams Scholarship please visit: http://newenglandivsa.org/dreams-scholarship/ or contact our Scholarship Chair: Tiffany Lac (firstname.lastname@example.org).
